Wilkes University's field hockey ends season with two wins

    WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes University’s field hockey team concluded their season with a pair of wins last week. On Tuesday the Lady Colonels notched a 2-1 win at DeSales University in a Freedom Conference game. Junior Alex Ingram (Central Bucks West/Chalfont) and freshman Diana Wright (Williamstown/Williamstown, N.J.) scored the Wilkes goals, while sophomores Kerry Battersby (Kingsway/Swedesboro, N.J.) and Devon McKay (Christian Academy/Secane) had assists. Freshman Julia Smith (Delaware Valley/Matamoras) registered nine saves to earn the win in goal. Wilkes posted a 5-0 non-conference win over Arcadia University on Friday to end their campaign at 9-9. Ingram, McKay, Wright, junior Lindsay Thomas (Nanticoke/Wanamie) and freshman Kendal Billig (Northwestern Lehigh/New Tripoli) tallied goals for the Lady Colonels. Thomas and freshman Jennifer Keegan (Delaware Valley/Shohola) handed out an assist apiece. Four Wilkes goalkeepers, Smith, junior Hilary Weber (Governor Mifflin/Mohnton), and freshmen Ashley Price (Morristown/Morristown, N.J.) and Serena Eber (Newark Academy/Plainfield, N.J.), combined to make two saves in the shutout win. They finished: 9-9 overall, and 4-3 in the Freedom Conference.
