Lee Cokellete, a resident of Matamoras and Civil War, recently spoke to the ninth-grade American Studies classes at Delaware Valley High School about the life of a Civil War soldier. His topics included, Civil War era medicine, food, identifying marks on the uniforms, as well as camp life. Students were able to try pieces of hardtack, a saltless hard biscuit, which were made by Mr. Wehner’s Warrior Cafe students. Cokellete is a member of the 124th N.Y.
