The Chant family remembers family

Streetlight memorials light his memories as well as the sidewalk Milford — In an area that is getting used to “transplants” more and more, and sees “natives” less and less, Davis R. Chant and his extended business family are tending the roots of the community. Chant, Judy, his wife, and his business partners have sponsored five lights in support of the Milford Enhancement Committee’s work while remembering their family members over the years. Davis Chant settled in Milford in 1944 and has been sowing the land ever since. Davis R. Chant Realtors has been in business since 1964. The dynamic company has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. During his tenure in Milford, he has followed in his parents’ footsteps. Ryall and Mims Chant (Davis’ parents) were associated with the Milford Garden Club, the Historical Society and a variety of other organizations. More so in recent years, Chant has not been able to dedicate as much of his time to the many organizations that he once spent hours of his personal time supporting. The Milford Ehancement Committee was an answer for him. “Growing up here as a kid, you knew everyone - but not today. There are so many people that I just don’t know,” explained Chant. “People love Milford, it’s a positive place and people take pride in their ownership because it’s such a special town. The work of the Milford Enhancement Committee makes it shine even more and I am happy that I was able to support the dream of Dick Snyder and his team, while also staying true to my own commitment to the community.” This year, more than ever, the committee needs the support of all those who support its cause, prompting its “Make a Memory” campaign.
