There's a long winter coming so better shape up in the fall

    Dingmans Ferry — The Pike Physical Therapy and Fitness Center has announced their fall community program schedule offering programs for youths and adults. Programs for “tweens” and teens include: • Fit Kids: A program for youth ages 8-12 that combines flexibility, nutritional awareness and physical activities played indoors and out. An alternative to sports, kids will have a blast with their peers as they increase their confidence by challenging themselves as individuals and working together as a team. Instructed by Certified Fitness Instructors. Classes begin Tuesday Sept. 18, 4:30-6 p.m. and run eight weeks. • “Girls Get Fit”: This program is for girls in 5th to 8th grade. Girls will participate in different fitness classes each week, which are designed just for them among peers their own age. The classes will offer an assortment of exercise routines and styles, including but not limited to Pilates, kickboxing, step, resistance training, stability ball and more. Instructed by Certified Fitness Instructors Classes begin Saturday Sept.15, 2007 10:30am-11:30am (8 weeks/ $60) Students can join the gym. Youths age 13-15 can work-out only with a parent or other supervising adult member under parent’s consent. Youths age 16 and up can work-out with parent consent. If a member is under 18, parent must fill out and sign paperwork with child. Students get discounted, no sign-up fee, but they must present a student I.D. • American Red Cross Baby-Sitters Training: For boys and girls 11-15 years of age who are interested in learning about the responsibilities of caring for children. It includes safety precautions, emergency situations, entertaining, food smarts, and more. An A.R.C. certification card presented at end to all participants. Lunch is provided. Class is Saturday, Sept 22. The $45 cost is payable to the A.R.C. Wayne/Pike Chapter. Adult programs include: • “Nu-Fit”: Put it all together---be fit for life. A weight loss program combining nutrition and fitness. Get a weekly weigh-in, nutritional guidance; improve the way you eat and prepare foods. Different topics are discussed each week, with guest exercise demonstrations, and use of the fitness center floor on Thursdays. Instructor: Diana Joerger M.S.,R.D., L.D. Classes on Thursday evenings beginning Sept 13, 6 to 7:00 p.m. Babysitting is available for small fee. (8 weeks) • “Osteoblast”: Designed for persons with or at risk of osteoporosis. Learn exercises to affect the production of healthy bone and increase your bone density. Each participant will receive an initial and follow- up fitness assessment. Instructor: April Quinn PT, MHA, CSCS, Classes meet Monday and Wednesday starting Sept. 10, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (8 weeks) Call (570)686-4300 ask to speak with April or Regina for more information. The fitness center welcomes all levels and ages and provides exercise classes, certified instructors and trainers, modern equipment, heavy weights, personal training, fitness Assessments, motivational programs year round, nutritional guidance and massage therapy. Discounts are available for families, seniors, students, active military members, Delaware Valley School employees, and local fire and ambulance volunteers. Call for details Come in for a tour and receive a “free week of fitness”. The center is open seven days a week and offers a variety of affordable fitness packages. They are currently enrolling for all the Fall 2007 programs and encourage you to call if you are interested in any of the above programs as class size is limited to 12 in most programs.
