To pause, to blink, perhaps to flash

Having expressed concerns about the new message module in Greg Yetter’s West Harford Street sign, the Milford Township Supervisors are trying to figure out whether its changing message capabilities constitutes a “flashing sign,” which is prohibited in the township zoning ordinance. Yetter appeared Monday before the board to provide information on the new sign, which he has limited to “time and temperature,” since learning of the zoning concerns. Yetter explained that the technology is the same used by PennDOT in its message signs. Recognizing that the sign could provide needed public service information about weather and school closings, supervisors’ Chair Don Quick explained that the township’s concern was in maintaining Milford’s historic appearance and not setting precedents which could be misused. The supervisors took Yetter’s information package under advisement.
