Township confused about advertising
MILFORD Given the appearance of a new, court-endorsed journal, Milford Township officials Monday were left wondering where they need to place their future legal advertising. Confusion arose as the township supervisors examined a two-paragraph “Important Notice” announcing Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Joseph Kameen’s approval of an administrative order creating The Pike County Legal Journal, and naming it as “the legal publication for Pike County.” “It says the legal publication,’ it doesn’t say a legal publication’, ”Chairman Don Quick said, questioning whether the ruling meant traditional newspaper advertising was no longer required. On Wednesday Judge Kameen explained that the journal will not replace advertising in “newspapers of general circulation.” He said the Pike County Bar Association decided that Pike, like many other counties already have, needed a legal journal. The court order was needed to authorize it, along with publication of the order in The Pennsylvania Bulletin . The order was published earlier this month and the journal, published by the Niki Jones Agency of Port Jervis, will begin operation after a 30-day waiting period.
