Township rejects Gateway planning
DINGMAN The developer of the Gateway Project, a controversial 730-unit residential and commercial subdivision on state Route 739, will be sent a denial letter for its preliminary planning work. The current six-month extension, which expires on Sept. 9, was not renewed by developer Dominic “Dino” Bradlee. The development was under intense pressure from area residents regarding a proposed on site sewage treatment facility. The sewage treatment facility would have processed as much as 300,000 gallons of waste water per day. The original plans were to discharge the tertiary effluent into Dwarfskill Creek. “Does this mean that the project is over?” asked Pat Staab of Crescent Lake Homeowners Association. “No. They can start the application process over at some later date if they want to,” said Dingman Supervisors Chair Tom Mincer. Pat Staab and the small group of Crescent Lake homeowners in attendance, said they left the meeting with some sense of relief. Crescent Lake is a small, approximately 70-home subdivision, with a lake fed by Dwarfskill Creek. They were concerned that Crescent Lake home values would plummet if their lake began to be filled with treated sewage water.
