Unlocking secret gardens

The secrets of some of Milford’s most exquisite gardens were revealed to at least 100 pairs of interested eyes on Saturday, July 19. While a severe afternoon thunderstorm kept many away during the latter half of the day, the Milford Garden Club’s 16th annual Secret Garden Tour was well attended -- and well stocked. The tour featured seven horticultural gardens throughout the Milford Boro, six of which were within walking distance of each other. Event co-chairs Theresa Johnson and Kathy Vanetta were responsible for selecting this year’s gardens. There was no account of the funds raised, but all revenues, from tickets costing $12 to $15, will benefit the Garden Club’s ongoing beautification activities around Milford. Photos by Kathryn Braisted
