UPDATE: Body recovered from the Delaware

    PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — City police report that at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, police and fire officials recovered the body of Cyrus Kean, 61, of Port Jervis from the Delaware River, approximately 300 yards south of Laurel Grove Cemetery. A N.Y. State Police helicopter unit that was called to assist with the ongoing search sighted the body in the water. Kean was reported missing shortly after 2 p.m. on May 4, after his vehicle and some personal belongings were found in Laurel Grove Cemetery in the tri-state section of the city. Police and fire department units searched the Delaware River and surrounding areas from the time the initial missing report was filed until Kean's body was recovered this morning. As of Tuesday, police were continuing to investigate the cause and manner of Kean’s death and were awaiting the results of an autopsy being performed by the Orange County N.Y. Medical Examiner. City police Chief William Worden offered thanks of the police and the Port Jervis Fire Department to the various area law enforcement agencies, volunteer fire departments, and dive teams that assisted them during the search.
