Valedictorian - Skyler Schneider

WESTFALL n Skyler Schneider, the son of Celina and Tom Schneider of Dingmans Ferry, is the valedictorian of the Delaware Valley class of 2007. Skyler will attend Cornell University in the fall, pursuing an engineering degree. At Delaware Valley High School, Skyler was involved in many academic activities. He is a member of the National Honor Society (grades 11 and 12) and Mu Alpha Theta (grades 11 and 12), in which he served as the vice president (grade 11). Skyler was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and won first place in the regional competition and 5th and 8th place in the state competition. He has been a Delaware Valley Student of the Month (grades 9, 11, 12) and a DV Spanish Student of the Month (10th and 11th grade) and Spanish Student of the Year (10th grade), as well. Skyler has been involved in Scholastic Bowl (grade 10, 11, 12), and the Science Olympiad, placing first, second and third in the regional competitions (grades 11 and 10) and third in the state competition (grades 10 and 11). Skyler also won first place in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science regional and state competitions. He received the Marine Veterans Math/Computer Science Award and won first place in the Pennsylvania Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in the category of Mathematics and Science during last year’s competition. Skyler has been involved in DV World, the schools’ website, and he was the assistant editor of the school newspaper, The DelAware in his sophomore year. In Marywood Math Contests, Skyler won both first (Level I, grades 9 and 10) and fourth place (Level II, grades 11 and 12) in different years of the competition. Besides winning math and science awards, Skyler tutors math students. He was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, as well, in the National Merit Scholarship program.
