Winter festival coming to the borough

MILFORD — Weather permitting, Milford will be filled with skaters and colorful ice sculptures during the last week of next month. Borough parks and recreation committee spokesman Steve Panicucci, with organizers Scott Sheldon, Mike Carson and artist Tom Holmes on Monday detailed plans to move the ballpark skating rink to Memorial Park and surround it with Holmes' lighted ice sculptures. Twenty more lighted ice sculptures would line Broad Street to create a "winter wonderland" effect, Carson said. The visuals would frame a week-long carnival in the park, which tentatively would include jugglers and stilt walkers, puppet and magic shows, a snow sculpture contest and lots of skating. The borough council is expected to okay the plan after a Dec. 8 public hearing.
