Woman charged with burning home waives preliminary hearing
MILFORD A woman charged with arson for burning down her home and filing a false insurance claim waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Betty Ann Longyhore, age 56 of Hawley, is charged with arson, a felony, insurance fraud a felony, and recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor. Longyhore is charged with burning down her previous home in Skytop Trailer Park in Palmyra Township, Pike County, in April of last year. After an eleven month investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit filed the charges against her. Longyhore will now head to court in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas. A trial will be set for a future date. The case against Longyhore will be prosecuted by Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin.
