Women in Business meet in Milford

Milford n Pike County Women in Business held a successful second workshop in Milford on Apr. 19. Those in Attendance enjoyed a well-rounded evening that covered a host of topics. Twenty-two local businesswomen participated in discussions about the new tax laws. They also collected funds for their spotlight organization for 2007, Habitat for Humanity and door prizes were awarded to the women attending. “It was a wonderful time had by all,” said Sue Hines, Chair of the Women in Business committee. The meeting was held in Milford at Beautiful Things and Coffee, the areas newest shop offering top-of-the-line silk floral arrangements and a quaint coffee house. Beautiful Things prides itself on supporting local artists by displaying their artwork in the shop. The ladies also enjoyed a demonstration on creating arrangements by one of the shop’s owners, Sharon Nagassar. The Women in Business Committee of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce is a woman-based committee providing networking and educational opportunities. The committee is dedicated to enhancing, educating and empowering its members with both personal and professional growth. This workshop marked their second meeting this year, and they intend on holding four more meetings before the year’s end. The next event will take place in June.
