Xtramart sign deal falls through

Owner Randolph “Skip” Gregory has rejected the negotiated deal between the borough and lessee Xtramart, which would have replaced the large, self-illuminated, West Harford Street street gas station sign with a smaller one, compliant with current Milford zoning. Gregory said the deal would have allowed more signage on the building, which he does not want and that Xtramart’s lease is not long enough to allow him to gamble on losing the zoning grandfathered sign. He says he would need the sign to lure a new tenant. Borough and Milford Enhancement Committee officials have expressed regret at Gregory’s decision. (File photo)
