A valuable program

To the editor: The Strengthening Families Program was certainly valuable for me and my son Joseph. It helped to open communication between us. The activities encouraged communication in comfortable ways and before we realized it, we were talking about values and problems and choices. It was definitely very helpful that way. The program also showed us that everyone has issues that are similar to ours. Things seem so different now than when I was growing up. Being in a program with other families helped me to realize that other people have the same things going on with their own teenagers. Now I have more understanding of the things that teens are facing today. We also enjoyed the format. Sharing a meal with the whole group helped to bring all of us together and set a tone for more open communication. My son and I are glad that we participated in this program. It’s definitely something that was very helpful. There aren’t other programs like it in the area. I had been looking for something that could help my family and I am happy to have found this one.
