A worthwhile effort

On Sunday June 8th My wife and I had the pleasure of attending a dinner, sponsored by the Pike County Youth Coalition. What we saw and heard was the future of our community in action and we were impressed. Their ability to communicate their objectives with great enthusiasm shows that the youth of Pike County is alive and well. The PCYC will certainly make our towns, county and country stronger as this organization grows. These young future leaders are addressing issues that are real in our community and affect their age group. It is refreshing to see a group of 18-24 year olds taking on very difficult issues that are of concern to our community. So, I am urging all elected officials in Pike County to register as members of this truly unique organization. We must show our support. No one asked them to form this community based group; they created it themselves. They saw problems and are addressing them with their ideas, their time and their youthful enthusiasm. What we need to do as community leaders is give them our support. Visit the website www.pikeyouth.org become a friend of PCYC. Encourage young adults to join.
