A yarn about WalMart

Is it possible to do a story/article about the phasing out of Wal-Mart Fabric/Yarn/Craft Department? The Newton, N.J. and Stroudsburg Wal-Marts have completely eliminated this department. When I asked about the local Wal-Mart about their department, the clerk in the fabric department told me that a decision would be made between now and January. I then got together the wording and put on paper a petition to ask Wal-Mart to retain this department. I intend to present the store manager with the petition this week. I called Wal-Mart Customer Service at, 1-800-Wal-Mart, and was advised that all Wal-Marts are in the process of phasing out or eliminating all such departments from their stores; but that I should pursue my petition and take it to the local Wal-Mart. When seeking signatures for the petition, I was greeted with much interest and at the same time stunned disbelief. The common feeling was and is the same as mine, and that is, “we have nothing else up here”. I believe your readers would be equally interested as the Newton store just slipped away without any prior public announcement and do not want to see this repeated up here without any public venting. For those of us dependent on Wal-Mart for Fabric and Yarn it will deeply impact church projects that does much in the way of community aid. Thank you for listening Terry Chattaway Milford
