Be fair about it

To the editor My name is Yolanda Goldsack and I would like to address the matter regarding my appointment as the new director of the Board of Elections. Critics of this appointment have said that it is a matter of fairness and I could not agree with them more. The voters and citizens of Pike County expect their votes to be fairly counted and expect unbiased information when they walk into the Board of Elections, that is only fair. They will get that from me because I am an American and believe in everyone’s constitutional right to vote in a free democracy. They expect the director to be qualified for the position and receive any necessary training that may be needed. That is only fair. I am qualified and will always be willing to learn and do whatever it takes to make our office run efficiently for all the voters of Pike County. They expect courteous treatment, that is only fair. I have always treated everyone in the manner I wish to be treated. Since this is an issue of fairness, I would like to ask those who have been critical of my appointment, as well as those who have been supportive to also be fair and not judge me based on my past political affiliation. Do not judge me based on my husband, and I respectfully ask that you not impugn my honesty and character without even knowing me. But rather judge me on my job performance. Because, ladies and gentlemen, that is only fair. Yolanda Goldsack Milford
