For readers and for music lovers
Families looking for a fantastic afternoon, singing along to world-class music and supporting their library, should come to the Steven Courtney Band concert this Saturday, June 27. The concert is at 3 p.m. in the Delaware Valley High School auditorium. Steven Courtney will be hosted by the Friends of the Children’s Room of Pike County Public Library, a not-for-profit group led entirely by teens who run children’s reading programs and raise money for children’s resources services at the library. These dedicated young men and women have raised thousands of dollars over the past decade. And now, with the new library on its way (in one shape or another), they need our community’s support more than ever to continue enriching the lives of the children in our community. Steven Courtney’s show, designed for parents and children of all ages, is filled with positive messages of compassion, respect, positive attitude and perseverance - things we all could never have enough of. As former president of the Friends of the Children’s Room, it’s my honor to invite you to the concert. It’ll truly be a “great day.” Swing by the Presbyterian Church in Milford afterwards until 6 p.m. for karaoke, arts n’ crafts and games at the summer reading program kickoff. The Friends of the Children’s Room will be selling hot dogs and refreshments, and you can show your support for children’s programs by buying your very own 2009 summer reading T-shirt.
