To the editor: The Friends of the Pike County Public Library have scheduled a bus trip on Wednesday, October 25, to beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania. We will visit the home of Nobel Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Pearl S. Buck, author of “The Good Earth”, and many other books. We will have a guided tour of her home “Green Hills Farm”, a 60 acre estate which has been designated a National Historic Landmark. Following the tour, we will enjoy lunch served at the Cock ‘n’ Bull restaurant which is located at Peddlers Village. Choice of entrees will be either marinated London Broil with mushroom sauce, or baked Flounder with Crab Imperial stuffing. After lunch, the bus group will have free time to browse around 62 enticing shops in the 18th- century Peddlers Village and view the annual scarecrow contest with 55 decorated and themed “crow chasers”. (Just as we have our decorated bears in Milford for the Black Bear Festival, Peddlers Village has its annual scarecrow decorating contest.) Cost for the day is $65.00 and is all-inclusive. The bus will leave the Grand Union parking lot in Milford promptly at 8 a.m., and a snack will be served on the way down to Bucks County. To reserve your seat on the bus, call today! Joyce Clark, Trip Coordinator for the Friends of PCPL can be reached at 570-296-7884 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. This is a way to support your local library and have fun at the same time! Patricia Corcoran Milford
