How about the rest of us

The Pike County Public Library is apparently so engrossed in its architectural kerfuffle that it has forgotten to be a “Pike County” library. On May 1, when I went to the Lackawaxen Branch of the Pike County Public Library, there was a notice on the door saying from now on the library would only be open one day a week. Prior to this the library had been open four days a week for a total of 22 hours. The rent for the Lackawaxen facility costs approximately $6,000 per year. I find it hard to understand how funds could not be arranged to keep open the only branch that serves the northern and western parts of Pike County when budgets for the other two facilities are in excess of $150,000. The PCPL has a pilot program available to Paupack, Greentown and Tafton where library materials can be obtained by mail. There is nothing now, however, for Blooming Grove, Lords Valley, Lackawaxen, Mast Hope and Shohola, but the one day a week library. Grace Hatton Lords Valley
