“It's All About Character”

A very wise man once told me that you have to have character in order to succeed. Truth is part of character and this element is essential when running for the School Board. Be wary of some of the candidates that have thrown their hat in the ring. During the last School Board election, letters were distributed and e-mails sent to voters attacking Taxpayers United candidates. It stated that we would cut programs, close the elementary school at the DV campus, and eliminate co-curricular activities. None of this was true, we ran on higher education and lower taxes, and we did just that. We completed the water tower project so that our children could have clean drinking water, increased co-curricular activities, negotiated with the commissioners the use of the Santos property for fields, restructured summer school classes, increased AP classes, created a Leadership Team that will align the curriculum throughout the district, all this and more without raising your taxes. We said we would never support “fluff,” items such as artificial turf and bleachers when improvement is needed with SAT scores and our math programs. We always believed that our job is to educate our children first and that co-curricular programs enhance what is taught in our classrooms. This election is very important, we need to keep moving in the direction of Higher Education and Lower Taxes, especially in this climate. We need candidates with “character” to lead this community through some difficult times ahead. Vote for taxpayer candidates Goldsack, Marasa, and Wright: leaders you know will do the right thing.
