Lawbreakers not hunters
To the editor: On reading your article ,I too feel for this deer. I think the article should have pointed out that the “someone just shooting willy-nilly” is a law breaker and not a hunter. A target/field point tipped arrow is not a legal head for hunting purposes in any state I know of. From the angle of the arrow ,the person who did this may have been in a tree stand but I think more probably on a raised deck. I have friends that live in Hemlock and unfortunately, yes the deer there are very tame. They eat out of your hand. I currently have a five-point buck hanging around, that appears to have been hit by a truck with a grille guard. You can see the imprint of the guard where the skin and hair were sloughed off. I didn’t think he’d make it but he still makes his rounds and is healing nicely. They can recover from an amazing amount of punishment. As for pain, how about all these people walking around with body piercing? How much pain did you have the last time you received stitches (after they were sewn in)? The state truck just picked up three dead deer from the entrance to my community. They cross the road there because some one is putting out corn. Though they are nice to observe , I don’t think the drivers of the cars that hit them are happy about it. Karl Dronke Milford
