Check your facts about DV next time, Mr. Splendora
Editor's note: The following letter is in response to the recent Courier article "School critic prefers KIPP," online at pikecountycourier.com.
Dear Anthony Splendora:
Upon reading your opinion in the Pike County Courier about the Delaware Valley School District, I felt compelled to reply and fix the mistakes you wrote.
When I first read your opinion two reasons came to my mind on why a former teacher would write this. The first is, Mr. Splendora, you have way too much time on your hands; the second would be that you’re a bitter man who decides to trash the former school by which you were employed. Regardless of the reason, it is very sad.
Obviously in the heat of the moment you wrote facts that were completely false, because as of now there are at least 13 graduates of DV teaching at DV. And the snarky comment where you stated that you never had all of your students in your class by no means reflects the student body of DV. Rather it reflects very poorly on the teacher running the class.
As we move on through the article, the over dramatic element continues when you falsely say that we spend as much money on each student as we do students in private school. If you’re going to write lies please try to make it realistic. Tuition for one student at a private school averages about 15,000 dollars. Then you frown upon the building enhancement of our high school while in the title of your opinion you call our school population huge. If we have such a big student body and you want us all to succeed so much don’t you think that we need more room so we can support our school community? I personally think you should spend less time writing bitter insults and more time checking your facts.
Thank you.
