Children invited to roll up their sleeves and garden

To the Editor:
Robert Louis Stevenson is known to have said: "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
During the Milford Garden Club's 80th year celebration, we've taken Stevenson's advice to heart. We've planned several children's programs to entice young people to roll up their sleeves and get dirty.
Our first event will take place at the Milford Community Garden next to the Milford Township Municipal Building (Route 6 and 209) on Saturday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m. Our Garden Club plans to present a program that will explain how to make your own greenhouse to jump start seeds for the growing season.
A presentation is scheduled followed by a game called "seed bingo." Participants are required to bring their own empty and clean gallon milk container and enthusiasm. The Milford Garden Club will supply soil and seeds.
Pre-registration is encouraged. Please email milfordgarden@gmail.com and let us know how many will attend.
