Doing the right thing for the right reason

    To the Editor:
Some say we are violating Pike County Republican Committee by-laws by supporting Ray Tonkin. The bylaws state in part that the committee may take part in and support the nomination.

We believe "may"was intentionally used by the author who couldn't foresee every future scenario. Those who spout this nonsense have failed to even mention it during a Pike County Republican Committee meeting. Why? The majority of the committee, who serve with both Ray Tonkin and Kelly Gaughan, are supporting the re-election of Ray Tonkin, who remains a Republican state committeeman.

Ray is a lifelong Republican with the ability to impartially represent all people of Pike County, Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike. Hes kind, caring, and stands up against injustice with integrity, honesty and procedural expertise. Pike County, to Ray Tonkin, is more than a stepping stone; he spent his adult life protecting our community. Pike County needs Ray Tonkin and Ray Tonkin needs your vote Nov 3. Do the right thing for the right reasons.
