Eagle Scout Evan Snyder raises $3,000 for Safe Haven

To the Editor:
We have a great Eagle Scout, Evan Snyder, from Troop 77 of Westfall who is going to drop off 100 "Safe Bags" for the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) tomorrow, June 22. Evan presented a Eagle Scout Project proposal here at Safe Haven last year, and then after I met him and agreed to his project, he presented to his troop review and it was accepted. He then went off and raised funds. It was a $3,000 budget and he succeeded.
Evan engaged his sphere of influence, both community members to help with comforters for kids, and quilts, and he sourced locally, other items, of interest. He really worked hard at it to think about having appropriate educative and fun items. His fellow troop members helped pack the sacks. These are all for the CAC children and our empowerment advocate will give them out after a child interview when that occurs.
Our role is as counselor and after the child is done with the often difficult interview, we are able to offer a gift if the child likes. Young volunteers like Evan give such a great example and he has done a great service to Safe Haven and he CAC.
