Thanks to all everyone made our garden grow this season

To the Editor:
Once again, Milford Garden Club’s Community Garden has been “put to sleep.” Celebrating its fifth year of growing produce and flowers for the Ecumenical Food Pantry, we wanted to thank the variety of partners and volunteers who make this all possible. These include: Milford Township’s Board of Supervisors who gladly provide the space for the 35-plus beds located next to the township building; Home Depot management and volunteers (Matamoras Store #4162) who provided replenishment soil and vegetable plants (but most especially, for volunteer employees who help restore the beds in the spring!); interns from Grey Towers who were faithful to the task of weeding; Milford Boy Scout Troop #70 who helped harvest produce during the month of July; and above all, members of the Milford Garden Club who energetically watch over and tend to the garden all summer long!
But special kudos goes to the Great Pike Community Foundation for their generous Barbara J. Buchanan Award. This grant provided for the installation of an automatic irrigation system that watered the plants on a regular and consistent basis. We estimate that our yield has increased 50 percent! Special thanks to Jim and Kathy Donoghue and Ralph Pinto for the days of work needed to get it “up and running.”
We await the winter deluge of seed catalogs to begin planning for 2018!
