Litter in Pike County
To the editor: Once again the snow has melted in Pike County, and what do we see? Everyones garbage. Not that we need the snow to melt, because the garbage is there all the time and my husband and I are sick of it. We have been residents of Pike County (Milford - Dingmans Ferry) for the last 15 years. When we first moved here, sure there was some litter, but not like now. I am disgusted at the sights that I see every day when I leave my house to go to work. Its not just Pa., its everywhere. I cannot believe that my husband and myself are the only people left in this world that don’t litter. Doesn’t anyone appreciate the beauty of nature anymore? Do you have to throw that soda can or McDonalds bag out your car window? You don’t have a garbage can at home? Think about how nice it would be to go for a walk, and not have to smell someone’s rotting garbage in your path. We were raised to appreciate nature. “Leave it as you found it,” was one of my father’s favorite sayings. I wish that everyone had a father like mine to instill in them the respect of beauty and nature, maybe then we would not have so may uncaring disgusting slobs among us. I always loved the saying, “leave it as you found it”, but unfortunately that does not go for life today, because all we find is not very nice at all! To all, please take a minute to think about it, and if you care at all I hope you will share it with your children. If you cant be - try and make them better, caring human beings. Thank you.
