Not in boro's best interest

To the editor: Having the Milford Boro police join Matamoras and Westfall as part of the Eastern Pike Regional Police is not in the best interest of the Boro. Home to the county seat, we are unique from the surrounding towns. Besides the courthouse and related county offices, Milford consists mostly of residences and small businesses, and is in reality a small town where people can easily avail themselves of services by foot. In contrast, Westfall is home to big box stores, numerous traffic lights, and will soon be home to a multiplex theater. Because of these differences, distinct policing methods are required. In closing I must state that it is ludicrous that members of the Milford Boro police department will have to apply for positions in the EPRP as new hires and, thereby, lose all benefits previously earned. I find it particularly disturbing that after serving the Boro for 33 years, Police Chief Gary Williams would be so callously tossed aside. Rosalyn Williams Milford (no relation to Gary Williams)
