Not so naive
To the editor: When I came across the opinion of police patrolling Delaware Valley by William Wade, I was disgusted. When I was interviewed by Kathryn Braisted I was asked for my perspective as a student, what my thoughts on the subject were. My opinions are in no way naive. For such a man to assume that I grew up here and in doing so have been raised in a way that would make me naïve, is ignorant and incorrect. I grew up in a city that was in fact crime ridden. I’ve seen things at a young age that no child should see. Milford, Pennsylvania is in no way like that. That is the exact reason why my parents, as many others, have chose Milford as their place of residence. Just because Mr. Wade attended school where there were such security measures doesn’t mean I should. The fact of the matter is Delaware Valley did not approach parents of students who attend the school. These are the people who pay taxes which means they are paying for these police officers to roam DV halls. “I’m glad that at least some of our school students are intelligent and have no problem with officers patrolling the school grounds.” Just because we don’t share the same opinion doesn’t mean that I am not intelligent. In fact Mr. Wade, my class rank is 65 out of 400 something students, I am in advanced classes, and I am Editor-in-Chief of the Del.Aware. So, the next time you go assuming things about the teen populace in Milford, think before you speak. Samantha Longobardi Milford
