Socially irresponsible

To the editor: I write to comment on your socially irresponsible choice to print, on page 13 of your March 2, 2007 edition, sample blog comments regarding Gabrielle Cerberville’s letter about Creationism. You printed only one two-word comment in support of a courageous effort by a teenager to open herself up to this secular reactionary nonsense, but included four vitriolic and ignorant comments criticizing her. Rather than lower myself to the vile level of your bloggers, I just want to tell Mr. Bergin, who said that “Creationism is folly,” and Mr. Treadwell who wrote that Creationism exhibits “intellectual laziness,” and Mr. Robinson who chimed in that Miss Cerberville’s ideas provide an “excellent case against homeschooling,” that I forwarded their ignorant comments to the 2.1 billion Christians, the 1.3 billion Muslims, and the over 14 million Jews in the world who believe in Creationism. In case the math is too difficult, that’s about 55 percent of the world’s population. And, by the way, those 3.6 billion people are praying for people like Mr. Bergin, Mr. Treadwell, and Mr. Robinson. Why do they fear religion so much? Maybe next time, the Courier will be socially responsible and give an equal amount of space to the other side. Bravo, Gabrielle! Your letter was great! Ernie Sandonato Milford
