Sunrise Concerned Citizens welcome election

This Sunday, July 26, Sunrise Lake will elect a board of directors for its newly formed homeowners association. This is an historic event in our growth and development as a community here in Dingman Township. Please take the time to vote and cast your vote for the candidates running from Concerned Citizens of Sunrise Lake (CCSL). Like many of our neighbors, members of Concerned Citizens moved to Sunrise Lake because there was no homeowners association and no cumbersome restrictions. The idea that we could simply pay our annual dues and the community would be maintained for all us seemed like a great deal. And the dues seemed affordable. We soon found out that things were not as they seemed. Money was collected but the amenities were allowed to decay and fall apart until they became unusable. We won’t detail CCSL’s multi-year lawsuit with Sunrise Ventures/Sunnylands, Inc., here. Everything is available on our website, www.concernedcitizensofsunriselake.org. We encourage everyone to visit our Web site and get the facts. Rumors and half-truths fly around like mosquitoes buzzing in everyone’s ears - but the facts speak for themselves. Candidates from Concerned Citizens don’t want to create a bunch of new rules and restrictions - our deeds already outline what we can and can’t do here. That’s fine with us. What we do want to do is restore our community. We want to live in a community that is neat and clean and well-maintained, not fancy and exclusive. A ball field you could actually play ball on. A pool that you can swim in. A tennis court you could use, a picnic table, a swing set - these are not extravagant things. We had them once but the developers were apparently more interested in greed and profit than honoring their fiduciary responsibility to every single owner in Sunrise. We want transparency and competitive bidding - no underhanded dealings, no back-door kickbacks. We want amenities in good working condition and we’d like to see them well-maintained. We want smart and responsible management of the community’s dues money - every penny of it. The people who ran this community into the ground and their friends are not the people to trust to re-build it. Exactly because they keep telling you, “there’s nothing wrong.” And to that we say, “look around.” The developers have now hand-picked candidates for the board, and are attempting to convince people that things are fine the way they are. These candidates have even accused Concerned Citizens of wanting to turn Sunrise into a mini-Hemlock Farms. This is patently untrue. Perhaps when you have no distinct platform to run on and you’re in bed with the developers, making up stories about the opposition is the best you can do? The members of Concerned Citizens running for the board are: Clarence “Chip” Dingman, DeAnna Margiore, Andrew Mellen, Jack Ritter, Lou Sancio, Gary Johnson and Lisa Krenkel.
