Supporting Sestak
The unemployment rate in Northeast Pennsylvania is over 10%. There are stark differences in how the two candidates for US Senator in Pennsylvania approach this. Congressman Joe Sestak knows that small businesses comprise 99 percent of American Industry and employ half the private sector workforce. Sestak has worked to maintain and create new opportunities for employment in Pennsylvania by supporting small businesses, including tax breaks for businesses that hire new people and easier access to loans and credits that help get small businesses off the ground. Pat Toomey pretends to be a friend of small business, but the policies he supported as a congressman, and later as the head of the Club for Growth (or, as Mike Huckabee called it, “The Club for Greed”) crippled financial regulations and allowed Wall Street to lead this country into recession. Toomey is a friend to the super-wealthy, but no friend of small businesses and working class people who are struggling in this economy. Sestak has actively supported small businesses. He has served as the Vice Chairman of the House Small Business Committee. He wrote the Small Business Lending Promotion Act of 2009 and the Small Business Entrepreneurial Development Programs Act. He co-sponsored the Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act of 2009. Joe Sestak knows small businesses still need help. He has proposed to reinstate expanded federal procurement set-asides for small businesses, encourage small business lending, and extend and expand tax incentives for small businesses to create jobs. Pennsylvanians are hurting; we need our representatives in Washington who puts our economic health first. Pennsylvania workers and small businesses need Joe Sestak as our next US Senator.
