Bushkill Falls

138 Bushkill Falls Trail, Bushkill, PA

The hiking trails are color coded: Green is a 15-minute walk with no climbing; yellow is 45 minutes to the Main Falls and Lower Gorge; blue trail is one hour and 15 minutes to Pennell Falls, and red trail is for avid hikers, two miles to Bridal Veil Falls and the seven others. Hiking brings visitors past a Native American Longhouse and to a picnic area and children’s playground. Paddle boats are available for the river and a concession stand is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cliff Trail

Raymondskill Road off US 209, Milford, PA

The trail offers spectacular overlook views of the Delaware River Valley from atop Raymondskill Ridge. It is a moderate climb of 2.8-miles with four scenic overlooks. Cliff Face has seasonal closures due to the presence of nesting falcons.

Ledgedale Natural Area

Kuhn Hill Rd., Greentown, PA

Considered a birding hotspot with four trails leading to birding areas: Moosewood, Pond, Big Tree and Lenape. The parking area is in front of the trailhead, left of the natural area sign. Waterproof footwear and insect repellant required.

Pocono Environmental Education Center

There are six available trails at the PEEC:

- 3.6-mile Ridgeline Trail

- 1.4-mile Two Ponds Trail

- 1.5-mile Scenic Gorge Trai

- 0.3-mile “Trail for Everyone”

High Point Monument Loop

This approximately 3.5-mile loop circles New Jersey’s highest elevation before climbing to the 220-foot High Point Monument, which sits 1,803 feet above sea level. Along the route, hikers travel through rocky forest sections and scenic overlooks before reaching sweeping views into New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania from the summit.

Buttermilk Falls Trail

This 1.4-mile trail, which is part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, begins with a climb to the top of Buttermilk Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in New Jersey. From there, the trail continues to make a steep climb up to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail for spectacular views of the valley below. This a “moderate to difficult” hike, with an elevation change of 1,104 feet.
