The Delaware Arts Alliance will host Meghan Udell’s “All the Stories We Do Not Tell” and Michelle Weinberg’s “Field Trip Around the Room” through Sept. 19.

Gallery hours will be Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment. Admission is limited to 10 visitors at a time, social distancing, hand sanitizing, and masks required.

“Field Trip Around the Room” references the various stations in my studio where I make different types of work,” says Weinberg. “The title became especially meaningful during the months of quarantine, when the layout of my studio became the literal boundary for my travel in the world. Luckily the subject of the artist’s studio has been occupying my thoughts and work for quite some time. The ordinary objects and architectural elements from my workspace (windows, lamps, ladders and worktables, notebooks) seep into the invented places in my pictures, props in a theater of my own making.”

Weinberg defines all her work as vivid backdrops for human activity. She works in New York City and Miami. Inspired by fashion and nature, design and the built environment, Weinberg makes paintings and drawings that inspire her large-scale commissioned works in diverse mediums and materials.

“For this exhibition, and for this moment in history when the self in isolation has become the status quo, I observe other norms being re-fashioned. New ways of being public and private are activated (virtual studio visits, Zoom meetings, social distancing), and so I’m approaching ‘Field Trip Around the Room’ as a kind of expository space for sharing. I am questioning what’s finished and what is unfinished, testing ways to bring viewers closer to my process,” she said.

She received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, a South Florida Cultural Consortium Award, and fellowships from MacDowell Colony, Millay Colony, 100West Corsicana Artists and Writers in Texas, the Studios at MASS MoCA, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and more.
