State grants totaling over $500,000 were recently awarded to three projects in Pike County, according to Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne/Pike/Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) and Rep. Joe Adams (R-Pike/Wayne).

The Milford Fire Department and Ambulance Service, in Milford Borough, will be receiving $287,849 to purchase an ambulance which will replace the current emergency response and medical transport service vehicle.

Milford Township will receive $100,000 to purchase a 2023 Mack Granite dump truck for use in Milford Township.

Delaware Township was also awarded $176,755 for the replacement of a culvert inside Akenac Park.

“It has become an increasing challenge for local communities and emergency responders to acquire the expensive vehicles and equipment needed to stay current with the level of service residents need and expect,” Baker said. “These grants greatly assist local officials by enabling them to upgrade services to modern standards and requirements without stressing their budgets further.”

“These grants help provide improved and more efficient services to our communities,” Adams said. “I am grateful that we were able to secure this funding for projects that will directly impact our residents.”

The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) program, which uses gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest across the commonwealth.
