Dear Editor:

Progressive Women of NEPA is proud to announce our endorsed candidates in the upcoming November 8 general election. As legislators, they will diligently work to protect the reproductive freedom of PA women and address other vital issues facing our commonwealth.

Each candidate has sought our endorsement and successfully completed our vetting process. We urge the public to consider casting their votes for them.

We endorse Fern Leard, a Democrat from Dallas for Pennsylvania House District 120. Her district is in Luzerne County.

We also endorse Meg Rosenfeld, a Democrat from Milford for Pennsylvania House District 139 in Pike and Wayne counties.

In addition, we endorse Mayor Tarah Probst, a Democrat from Stroudsburg for Pennsylvania House District 189 in Monroe and Pike counties.

Our final endorsement is Jackie Baker, a Democrat from Montrose for Pennsylvania Senate District 20. This district serves residents in Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

Our endorsed candidates will be the featured speakers at our annual Cocktails & Candidates event, September 20 at The Colonnade in Scranton.

This year, breaking with our tradition of female-only speakers, we invited pro-choice allies to offer comments. Those invited are Josh Shapiro, candidate for governor of PA, John Fetterman, candidate for US Senate and Congressman Matt Cartwright. Tickets are available on our website at prowomennepa.com.

As a political action committee, our mission is to improve government by working to recruit, train, fund and elect qualified, progressive women to political leadership at the state and local levels.
